About keeping your hands from feeling like sandpaper... As much as you think lotion is a waste since you do wash it off-I always lather up with lotion after I wash my hands. The alcohol in Purell is especially drying. Maybe use an antibacterial lotion soap like bath and body works has. Otherwise just use lotion like it is going out of style. Hope this helps!
