Open Mouth, Insert...Spoon

After reading Keri's blog and seeing how well Mackinley is doing feeding himself, I was inspired to give Madelyn another chance at it. We had already experimented with the spoon and bowl scenario a week or so ago at my parent's house, but all I remembered was a messy child to clean and the close supervision it required. On the other hand, it was nice to transfer feeding responsibility to her and to be able to eat my dinner at the same time she did. So, here's take 2: I think she's getting the hang of this.

Wow, she really took that seriously!

Good job Madelyn! It looks like most of the food made it in your mouth. I'M not always that successful!

I'm all about eating dinner at the same time, even if it is messy. My mother does not agree, but they have to learn how to eat sometime! I noticed you weren't inspired by Daniel's effort at feeding himself ravioli...

Kari, I actually thought of that picture of Daniel when I was posting and almost put Keri and Kari. But I figured Daniel is - what - 3 months older than Madelyn, and Mackinley is the same age, so I could compare then more evenly (not that we're suppose to be comparing our kids, but you know what I mean.) ;)

"feeling", or "feeding" herself:) Did anyone else see that? heehee

Not until you mentioned it, Lynnette! Just shows how your brain fills in the gaps when you know what's trying to be communicated!

Fixed it, Lynnette. I guess that would be "Open mouth, insert foot!" :)

Jaena: Aren't you supposed to be using the time Maddie's feeding herself to be eating your own dinner . . . not taking pictures?

Oh well -- Uncle Joel's glad you decided to take the pics!

Love the pics! BTW- We decided Sunday to go to every other week for ladies night since attendance has been waning. This is the off week so I wanted you to know. We will meet next Thursday at 7:45. :)

She's so cute!! And she's doing a better job than Mackinley! She's actually getting food in her mouth! I haven't tried again with Mackinley since that picture was taken that you saw on my blog...once he's feeling better, I think I'll let him have another go at it! Like Kari said..there's no other way for him to learn!

That's impressive. Anna just turned four, and half the time we are still feeding her!

Hey Jaena. I think we still have Monday off. It's in the teacher's contract and they can't change it. Other schools may do it differently. I am still going in to work today (a little late) because I HAVE to get some work done. We are being reviewed by the government a week from Monday, and I am way behind now. So still on for Monday?

Keetha, I know, I know. I have photos but have to make myself download them from the camera, think of a catchy title, write captions, etc...maybe tomorrow.
