My New Best Friend

No, my new best friend is not a dessert...it's this amazing website I have been frequenting lately. I have often used Google to find a recipe, but Kraft foods has a site where you can type in the ingredients you have, and it will list a number of recipes that use those ingredients.

Today, for instance, I had an opened can of cherry pie filling that I needed to use, cream cheese and Cool Whip. I typed in the ingredients and "voilla" an assortment of recipes appeared, including "Cherries in the Snow" which is pictured above. I have used this feature for a number of dishes now and have officially labeled it my new best friend. At least until something better comes along...

I gotta tell ya - - - - that looks too pretty to eat!!!!! Yum.

Too cool! How did you find it? Have you "played" with it by giving it a really weird combination?

I read about it in a Kraft Foods magazine. No, I haven't tried giving it a weird combination yet...that sounds like something Jim would do.

For example: he took a photo of his foot the other night and put it in that celebrity look alike site. Nothing came back, so I guess his foot doesn't look like any famous person. (surprise, surpise!)

I tried corned beef hash, applesauce, and eggs. Stumped it!!!

hahaha to Marcia's last comment. Funny.

Thanks for yet another tip. The kids love cherry pie filling and hubby has stocked up on cream cheese with his shopping addiction. Guess what I'll be making?

I just noticed under the comment box that I'm typing in it says "This blog does not allow anonymous comments." blah, blah, blah :)

Jaena-

The preemie family we were talking about the other day... I gave you the wrong web address. It's NOT "thed____family.com" it's "thed____s.com" Hope you're able to find them!

Ohhhh this sounds like fun!!!

And oh my goodness, Mom (Keetha), your fridge is PAST naked...I don't know why you even own one.

I love this site too! Campbell's also has a similar and pretty good one, and I get their daily meal-mail, which puts easy recipes in my inbox daily. At least it gives me ideas for things I might someday try if I ever start cooking again.

Not much need to stock a frige if you never are home long enough to cook anything. That's why La Char is just down the street, so to speak. ;-)

Your favorite chef says: Liked the taste, the texture was a little diappointing for my liking. Next time, I'm substituting with conf. sugar instead of regular sugar. Then, perfecto!

Jaena said...

Anon: I considered doing that myself. I actually used really fine granulated sugar that my grandmother gave me (can't remember what it's called), so maybe that made the texture a bit smoother.

How did you put that hit counter at the end of your blog??????? Oh yeah, its probably too complicated for my puny brain to grasp through a short comment, isn't it?????

Jaena said...

Keetha: Actually, Jim did it for me...but I know how. Just click on the meter at the bottom of my site, then click on "Home," and follow the directions . I think there is a "How to get your own Free Site Meter" place to click or something similar. Happy tracking!

I am going to try out your new best friend... when I actually get around to cooking something... but at least I do have some ingredients now thanks to your Angel Food tip. You are so full of good ideas. :-)

Thanks for the info about the site meter. I followed the directions, and wonder of wonders, I DID put a counter on my blog. (I was pretty proud about that) HOWEVER, it isn't the kind where the number shows on the blog. BUMMER - - - - - all I got was a little site meter logo. :-(

Sometimes I wish I weren't so unsavvy.

I wonder if the kind you have is the one that says Java Script?
