Sunday Table

In order to completely appreciate this post, one must first see the blog my brother started titled "Thursday Table." It records the meals he and some friends prepare and share each Thursday evening. And these are not your average meals like spaghetti or chicken and rice casserole. These are Martha Stewart-type meals with unusual ingredients and maybe multiple courses.

Anyways, we had friends over for dinner today and I thought it would be interesting to show a contrast. I hate to say it, but something is not quite the same in ours. Maybe it's the Fisher Price table in the corner (instead of the garden setting) or the salad centerpiece (instead of roses). I'm not sure...but regardless, this post is for you, Joel, in anticipation of your future posts and dinners!

What? You mean there are dining rooms that don't have little people's stuff in it? I think your table looks great!

You set a beautiful table Jaeana-and the company around the table is always the best anyway!

Hey - - - I don't see any POTS AND PANS still on the table - - - nor any CARRY OUT bags - - - I'd say you're doing GREAT!!!! And no one can EAT a ROSE centerpiece - - - but your salad, it looks fit for a king.

Your table looks wonderful! I'll come over any time to eat at your Sunday Table. I checked out Joel's site too (I like his name)and that's a cool idea. But your many steps ahead of me-right now I don't even know if I have a dining room table, if I do, it's got boxes, boxes and more boxes on it

Hey all, thanks for your encouraging words! I was not trying to put down my table or ask for compliments. I just thought it would be funny to post as a kind of joke since this is Joel's theme for his blog.

And Keetha, I cannot even take credit for the magnificent salad...my guests brought that! :)

Table. Table. Oh that's what I forgot!

We actually have NO dining room table right now because our old one wouldn't fit, and I haven't found a gateleg/conversion sofa to formal dining table that I like.

I think your table looks great and think it looks even better when friends like you are sitting around it!

Derby Family - - - is that new picture lilacs??????? My favorites.

Jaena, now that I've had a chance to check out Thursday's Table I gotta tell ya, your table has A LOT in common with theirs. Round table, table cloth, beautiful place settings, and a round bowl centerpiece.

Methinks those gentleman of Thursday's Table aren't contending with KIDS at their fancy dinners.

WOW. Joel's table is - WOW. And yours is impressive to me because it is a real table used for eating!! I have a dining room table, but it mostly holds the mail and the pile of stuff I keep to pass along to my parents every week. My eating table consists of my lap...while I eat on the couch...in front of the TV...trying to keep two cats on the floor instead of also in my lap sharing my dinner! Didn't my Mom raise me better than that??? Yes she did!
